The Heliport was constructed to ensure efficient emergency medical services to the municipality. Prior to the helipad, in an emergency, an ambulance would have traveled a round trip of one hundred and twelve (112) kilometres before reaching the hospital. This heliport increases recovery time exponentially resulting in potential life saving capability.The heliport is located in the south half of Lot 12, Concession A, geographical Township of Cairo, being Lots 610 through 615 inclusive, Plan M-157-T, and part of Part 1, Plan 54R-1790, also in the geographical Township of Cairo. The land is South of Calbeck Avenue, on the East Side of Front (Rye) Street.
