If you are 45 years or older, come out and join the Matachewan Pioneer Club and enjoy some of our activities and meet our Club Members. We welcome Fresh faces and Fresh Ideas!

Our Club is a charter member of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario and we currently have 15 active members.

Our Goal is to keep seniors active, healthy and happy. We also contribute to our community by sharing our knowledge and experience.

Our Activities include:  Playing cards and board games; Community suppers; A monthly Potluck supper and Birthday Celebrations; BBQ’s located at our gazebo next to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 386; Pancake breakfasts; baked goods and craft sales, Visiting other senior’s clubs in Northeaster Ontario, Special occasion group restaurant dinner and participating in community events like the Canada Day Celebrations and the Matachewan Reunion.

Our Accomplishments include: obtaining funding from “New Horizons” which is a grant intended to help seniors, in order to equip the Matachewan Community Hall with new appliances, tables and chairs. We are proud to have been able to furnish the Recreation Hall in the Township of Matachewan  with these items, so as to benefit our entire community.

We take Pride in keeping our little community beautiful. The year “2009” marked the third year that the Pioneer Club is involved with the “Adopt-A-Highway” program and we could use some new volunteers.

Thanks to the support of our community, we are able to carry on with all of our projects for the enjoyment of everyone in Matachewan!
