Matachewan in the summer time the land of
endless lakes, with waters so pure you can still drink them. Fishing
action, reminiscent of days gone by. Northerns biting so hard, feisty
Smallmouth Bass and Speckles testing your drag. The Northerners favourite,
Walleye, shimmering gold and a gourmet treat. All these species
grace the waters surrounding Matachewan. Boating and canoeing, miles of
Waterways and lakes some still without a name await you. For the naturalist,
Indian artifacts, wildflowers, hummingbirds and countless berry
patches. Matachewan celebrates summer with two Fishing Derbies (May and
September) and our Canada Day celebrations. So many summer activities, the days
are hardly long enough, from swimming to playing horseshoes, you are only
limited by your imagination. Fall brings the anticipation of hunting, get
out your ATV and roam the miles of bush roads searching for Partridge.
Hunt the black bear and moose our area is famous for while enjoying the fall
colours. Not a hunter? Then grab your camera and delight in some
fabulous scenery that is right on our doorstep. Winter brings snowmobiling
on our miles of groomed trails, seeing the country you cannot see
during the summertime, then spend the evening back in Matachewan
enjoying the comfort of a cooked meal and warm room. From
skating and ice fishing to cross country skiing, winter is a
buzz of activity, including our own Annual Winter Carnival. We don't
hibernate in winter, we have a blast! Enjoy our crisp, pollution
free air, brilliant skies and on the right nights our fabulous
Northern lights |
